Hope and a Future: The Coming Reformation in America
By: Craig M. Kibler

The coming Reformation in America in these early years of the 21st century is being led not by the leaders of many of the Protestant mainline denominations but, rather, by independent groups and their allies around the world. They are the ones who are calling for the affirmation of traditional, orthodox Christianity in a pluralistic society heavily influenced by secular culture.

Within their own denominations, those calling for such an affirmation have become exiles, strangers and aliens. Speaking for many such people in the Protestant mainline, Episcopal Bishop Robert W. Duncan, Jr. says, “We have been taken captive, against our will, to a place we did not wish to go.”

In response, these independent groups and their allies around the world are speaking the one truth of Jesus Christ plainly and with the authority of Scripture to a society that, in many ways, has lost its bearings and is searching for the solace that only is possible in the incarnate and written Word.

That message, as voiced by Duncan, is the coming Reformation in America: “Choosing Jesus first: Jesus above culture, Jesus above comfort, Jesus above property, Jesus above family and friends, Jesus above any other security, Jesus above a wayward North American Church.”
